Acupuncture Physician
Dr. Akers is a FL Licensed Acupuncturist (FL License #AP3048), Acupuncture Physician (FL) and Doctor of Oriental Medicine. As an associate at Healing Touch Oriental Medicine, she specializes in chronic pain, allergy treatment, hormone imbalances, facial sculpting and rejuvenation, and Oriental bodywork. Dr. Akers enjoys working with special needs children and has experience with ADD, ADHD, Autism and other developmental issues.
Professional Licensure, Education and Memberships
Dr. Akers is licensed by Florida’s Department of Health as an acupuncturist and primary care provider. Professional titles in FL include Licensed Acupuncturist, Acupuncture Physician and Doctor of Oriental Medicine. She is a professional member in good standing with the Florida Society for Doctors of Oriental Medicine, holds a certification in Facial Rejuvenation with acupuncture and herbs, and completed a 1 year apprenticeship program with Dr. Mary Riggin at Healing Touch Oriental Medicine. She holds a Master of Acupuncture Degree from Tai Sophia Institute in Maryland, a 4 year program. Additionally, she studied Chinese herbs from 2009-2012 at the Academy for five Element Acupuncture in Florida. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Visual and Performing Arts and photography. She served in the United States Navy for over 7˝ years as a Linguist, stationed in Panama and the National Security Agency.
